Before writing a single word, read each question 2-3 times. Identify what it’s really asking — is it “Discuss,” “Explain,” “Compare,” or “Critically Analyse”? Each keyword demands a different answer structure. Highlight the key terms and make sure your answer addresses every part of the question.

IGNOU assignments typically have three sections. Section A has long answers (about 500 words each), Section B has medium answers (about 250 words), and Section C has short answers (about 100 words). Sticking to these limits shows the evaluator that you can be concise and focused.

Your primary source should be IGNOU’s own study material (available on eGyanKosh). Evaluators check if your answers align with the official course content. Use the Block structure provided in your study material to organize your answers. Supplement with reference books only when needed.

Start with a brief introduction (2-3 lines), then write the main body with clear headings and subheadings, and end with a short conclusion. Use numbered points where appropriate. A well-structured answer always scores better than a wall of unformatted text.

IGNOU checks for plagiarism. Copying directly from study material, websites, or other students’ assignments can lead to zero marks or even debarment. Always write in your own words. If you use a reference, cite it properly. A shorter original answer beats a long copied one every time.

Wherever possible, add real-world examples, case studies, diagrams, flowcharts, or tables to your answers. For subjects like Management, Psychology, or Commerce, practical examples show the evaluator you truly understand the concept — not just memorized it.
